Genuine Auto Parts and Standard Ignition / Four Seasons present the 2009 Technical Training Season Ticket
Solving the Top 10 Diagnosis & Repairs – One Night (4 hrs) TUE March 17th The purpose of this seminar is not to point out “silver bullets”, but rather to educate and enable the technician in their diagnosis of the most common OBDII DTCs. The DTCs were chosen through a compilation of numerous surveys and real world experience. The diagnostic strategies will be demonstrated on 10 specific vehicles but can be applied in most situations. During the class, Power Tips will point out pattern failures for a variety of manufacturers. For each DTC, the class will cover the definition, the criteria for setting the DTC, action taken by the PCM when the DTC sets, diagnosis, and follow up with a case study. This class will help the technician to have a better understanding of these DTCs, how they affect other systems, and how to diagnose them using a variety of scan tools. $109 Value Engine Diagnostic Strategies – One Night (4 hrs ) TUE May 5 Engine mechanical problems can turn on the MIL and cause misfire, surge, and emissions test failures. Technicians can usually identify a misfiring cylinder due to a mechanical problem, but the process of determining what is actually wrong in the engine can be difficult without tear-down. During the class the technician will learn how symptoms can be caused by failures during each phase of 4 stroke operation. The class will evaluate current testing procedures, and introduce new test procedures and equipment. Case studies will be used to demonstrate diagnostic procedures using a variety of tools during each example. The goal is to provide the technician with new techniques to diagnose engine mechanical issues more efficiently, and more accurately. This class does not promote any specific tool or process but will allow the technician to see them all in action and make an informed decision about their current process. $109 Value Summer Vacation!!! Network Diagnostic Solutions – One Night (4 hrs) TUE September 8th Networks are used to control everything from the head lights to the tail lights on new vehicles. This means that the network can be responsible for engine no-start, transmission shift problems, HVAC failures, ABS DTCs, inoperative lighting and other problems. The network is supposed to simplify diagnosis by allowing scan tool control of components but often adds complexity when the network is “down.” Technicians need a plan of attack when their scan tool will not talk to the vehicle or a specific module. This class will demonstrate diagnostic procedures using tools that the technician already has to diagnose the state of the various communications networks through the use of real world case studies. A variety of scan tools both OE and aftermarket will be used as well as simple test tools and an oscilloscope. This class will help keep technicians “on-line” when diagnosing new vehicles. $109 Value Fuel Trim Diagnostic Strategies – One Night (4 hrs) TUE November 17thThis seminar is designed for the independent automotive driveability technician that must diagnose multiple makes of vehicles. The program will cover DTCs and symptoms caused by fuel delivery and control systems. Fuel Trim DTCs can be difficult to diagnose. This one night program will focus on Fuel Trim DTCs and symptoms. Through the use of case studies including Daimler/Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Nissan, and Toyota vehicles, the technician will learn to interpret important Fuel Trim data on each make. Pattern failures and streamlined diagnostic procedures designed to reduce diagnostic time will be highlighted and demonstrated. The focus will be on strategies to identify which service information and test data is needed, determine an initial direction, validate the direction, identify the root cause, and verify the repair of rough Idle and stalling, surging, lack of power, misfire, MIL on - engine runs OK, and intermittent faults. $109 Value All sessions also include dinner and course manual Dinner served starting at 5:30 pm. Classes start at 6:00 – 6:15 pm. Class lengths are approximate and may vary based on questions/discussion Valued at $436.00 - Your Cost: $359.00 Ask your Rep for details Additional Classes for 2009 will be posted ASAP [HOME][STORE LOCATION][AUTO VALUE SERVICE CENTER][FEATURE][EQUIPMENT][HEADQUARTERS][NEWS] |
